Benefits

Why smoked light film

Custom blacked-out style

Light, gloss or satin smoke gives your tails and accents a sleek, aggressive look without swapping housings.

Chip & UV protection

Our PPF-based film adds a tough, UV-resistant layer that helps shield lenses from rock chips, hazing and fading.

Honest, legal advice

Heavy headlight tint can be illegal in California if it cuts required light output. We recommend lighter, legal options that still look great.

Reversible & clean

Film installs cleanly and can be removed later without damaging your lenses — unlike spray-on tint.

Smoke levels & options

We tailor the finish to your car and the law. Most drivers go with light smoke or accent tint on taillights and fogs, where you have more freedom, and keep headlights legal — or fully clear with a protective film. We'll walk you through what passes a CHP check and what doesn't.

  • Light, legal smoke for a subtle look
  • Gloss or satin (matte) finishes
  • Taillight & fog-light accent tint
  • Protective clear PPF for headlights
  • California-legality guidance up front
FAQ

Automotive — FAQ

Is headlight tint legal in California?
It depends on darkness. California requires headlights to emit white or amber light at the required brightness and visibility, so heavy headlight tint that reduces light output is illegal. We recommend light, legal smoke or clear protective film on headlights, with darker accents reserved for taillights and fogs where allowed. We'll advise you before any install.
Can you smoke my taillights?
Yes. Taillights and fog lights have more leeway than headlights, but they must still show the required red and remain clearly visible. We use light, legal smoke so your lights look custom and still pass inspection.
What is headlight tint film made of?
We use a durable PPF-based tint film rather than spray paint. It adds a protective, UV-resistant layer over the lens, goes on cleanly, and can be removed later without damaging the housing.
Will tint film hurt my visibility at night?
Done right and kept light, no — that's exactly why we steer customers away from heavy headlight tint. Dark film on headlights cuts the light you need to see and is unsafe and illegal, so we keep heads light or clear and put the smoke on accents.
Do you offer a warranty on light film?
Yes. As an authorized LLumar dealer we back our work, and many films carry a lifetime warranty against bubbling, peeling and discoloration. Stop by 521 E Los Angeles Ave in Simi Valley or call (805) 527-3000 for a free estimate.
